En palabras del autor: Cambiamos cuando volvemos a DISFRUTAR del amor de Dios. No cuando creemos que Dios nos ama, sino cuando nuestros ojos son abiertos y encontramos un profundo placer en ese amor (Efesios 1:18ss). Este nuevo “degustar” del amor de Dios es lo que la Biblia llama: “volver al primer amor”. Al ser confrontados con la realidad de lo que amamos internamente comenzamos a experimentar una sentida convicción de pecado o, como dice Jesús en Mateo 5:5, vemos nuevamente la realidad de nuestra “pobreza espiritual”. El Espíritu Santo nos abre los ojos para recordarnos que el evangelio (el perdón y el poder de Cristo) es nuestra mayor necesidad para cambiar.

In the words of the author: We change when we ENJOY God’s love again. Not when we believe that God loves us, but when our eyes are opened and we find deep pleasure in that love (Ephesians 1:18ff). This new “taste” of God’s love is what the Bible calls: “Return to the first love.” When confronted with the reality of what we love internally we begin to experience a heartfelt conviction of sin or, as Jesus says in Matthew 5:5, we see again the reality of our “spiritual poverty.” The Holy Spirit opens our eyes to remind us that the gospel (the forgiveness and power of Christ) is our greatest need to change.
